Where to eat in Paris in August?!

August in Paris… a famously quiet time in the city due to the mass exodus of Parisians who go on summer vacation, leaving mostly tourists (and a few locals) behind to enjoy its many sights all for themselves.

Whilst this can be an idyllic time in the city with a slower pace it can also make it tricky to find somewhere to eat because the restaurant owners are also on holiday!

We don’t want you standing before closed doors so here is a quick recap of some must try restaurants, near the most iconic attractions, that are open throughout the month!

Eiffel Tower

Hanami Paris

The perfect lunch spot nestled in the Trocadero Gardens with views of the Eiffel Tower! This little gem is a Japanese inspired food court, decorated with traditional ‘’yatai’’ stalls and offers an extensive street food menu. A relaxed, yet memorable, dining experience.

Girafe

Nestled in the heart of the Cité de l’Architecture with breath taking views of the Eiffel Tower this seafood restaurant is worth a visit and is open throughout the month of August!

Louvre Museum

La Maison Plisson

The perfect spot for a light lunch! This well-known establishment has opened a small kiosk in the Jardin des Tuileries which is perfect after a morning in the museum! Enjoy cold drinks, toasted sandwiches, salad caesar, the Breton-Plisson hot dog, freshly made waffles or a refreshing ice cream on their large patio or with your feet in the grass like a true Parisian!

LouLou

Situated in the gardens of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs this is a great address to soak up the essence of Paris and spend a special night. With a large terrace over looking the historical museum you will be hoping the sun never sets!

Notre Dame

43 up on the roof

During spring and summer months, and depending on the weather, a must visit is this ephemeral cocktail bar located on the roof top of the Holiday Inn hotel. A true oasis up in the sky with Instagram worth scenes of the infamous Paris rooftops!

Rotisserie d’Argent

This historic Parisian brasserie is a firm favorite of ours all year round! A lively and warm establishment serving simple, yet delicious, rotisserie chicken and mouth watering sides! A  stone’s throw away from the Latin Quarter and Island of Notre Dame!

Montmartre/ Sacré-Cœur / Moulin Rouge

Terrass

Just a few cobbled streets from the Sacré-Coeur and the Moulin Rouge this hotel restaurant offers generous and authentic cuisine. Located on the 7th floor of the hotel, the rooftop bar & restaurant offer panoramic views over the city of love and is an ideal location to sit back and sip signature cocktails after a long day of sightseeing!

Arc de Triomphe / Champs-Élysées

Le Drugstore

Perfect anytime of the day! The restaurant at Publicis Drugstore serves from 8am until 2am! Enjoy their tasty breakfast menu, a gourmet lunch, afternoon tea-with homemade pastries, a refreshing aperitif or an elegant dinner with the most refined dishes.

Galanga

Galanga, the trendy restaurant & bar of the Monsieur George Hotel. Cooking with sophistication and simplicity, this Asian fusion menu will make you think you have landed ‘’out of this world’’!

Marais/ Les Halles / Châtelet

Mabrouk Paris

Why not take a quick visit to Tunisia whilst here?! Inspired by the buildings of Sidi Bou Saïd this picturesque blue and white restaurant will impress you before you even eat! Delicious traditional cuisine including mechouia, couscous, filo bricks and for desert the ‘’1000 and 1 leaves’’! Your taste buds will thank us for this detour!

Grand Coeur

Located in the heart of the Marais, alongside lively dance studios, it is the epitome of Paris chic. Using delicious seasonal products, the menu offers refined gourmet cuisine without the frills. Sit back and soak the atmosphere up!

Jardin des Plantes

Manzili

Located in the Jardins des Plantes this contemporary restaurant offers a Mediterranean inspired menu bursting with flavor. Reservations are hard to find as this establishment is only in place for the summer and run by the most recent winner of Top Chef!

The Paris ‘’beaches’’

Paris Plages

Each year, Paris gets a pop-up attraction that allows Parisians and visitors to make the most of summer in the city! From July 10 until August 22, 2021 these man made beaches are open on the Banks of the Seine, the Bassin de la Villette and a new location in the Trocadéro garden. Each site has an identity of its own mainly focused on sports activities, for young and old, inspired by the 2024 Olympics which will be held here! Its worth a visit when in town and you will be able to select any number of snacks or light lunches from the many pop up food carts!

Whatever you do, wherever you go and whenever that may be… you won’t go hungry in this magical city! Enjoy all the ‘’semi-peaceful’’ city has to offer in August and Bon Appétit!
